How do you know you have the right gift? Does your gift fall under any of these categories?
Is it memorable, meaningful, appropriate?
Think about your recipient? Your gift should not be about you. Think hard about the things your recipient may like and don't forget the focus is not about you.
Pay attention to the details. Does your recipient have a favorite color, song, book, drink or hobby?
Does your gift show you've given your options some thought? Are you handy or crafty? Have you tried DIY or custom made gifts?
Stay away from self-improvement gifts, the message of the gift can be taken the wrong way.
If the person says do not buy me a gift, make sure you listen. You do not want to be placed in an uncomfortable position where you can scar or put pressure on your relationships. Instead offer your time, your companionship to just be there for your friend.
Do not wait until the last minute. It's okay to give a gift late but rushing the process is not the best option. Take your time in choosing the right gift.
Give with an open heart and do not expect anything in return
If you're exchanging gifts in an office, stay away from personal items which could get you into trouble or send you straight to the EEO office.
If you're interested in blessing a friend do so anonymously. Keep your gift appropriate, don't break the bank stay within the budget constraints and package your gift nicely with a kind note. There is no need to stir the pot and make other's feel bad because of the cost of your gift.
